Give Your Website a Boost with On-Site Optimization

Local Search OptimizationIn our continuing efforts to build page rank locally, there are a few things you can do to improve your site with on-site optimization. By doing this, you’ll increase your ranking on local organic search results. It’s not as scary as it sounds and you can definitely do it on your own.

We have a few simple good and bad practices that are easy to follow and will improve the function of your website.

Good SEO Practices

  • Create NAP consistency. This means that your business name, address, and phone are listed consistently throughout the web. Double check to make sure everything looks the same and you have no variations of your business name or different phone numbers listed.
  • Create location specific pages.
  • Your multiple service locations should have unique content written for each page. This can be done by including contact details, driving directions, etc. You can also include information about the area such as local sights, attractions, history, events, etc. Include information about your local company team and post photos.
  • If you have a single location, include a Google map on your landing page or on your Contact Us page.
  • Make sure you optimize and update your site content, title tags, meta tags, and URLs for your location. If you have multiple locations, you don’t have to do this for each specific location. Instead, choose the one that is most popular and profitable and optimize that location.

Bad SEO Practices

  • Avoid spinning content for each specific location page. Remember to write unique content.
  • It’s been said again and again - DON'T keyword stuff your content.
  • Regularly check in with your organic rankings and your traffic rankings to see how you’re doing. A sudden drop might mean you’ve been penalized for doing something wrong. Always follow Google’s rules to ensure that your website stays visible.
